Do You Rent Flats / Apartments / Rooms / Suites?

Hvar Away exclusively rents villas – that is, holiday homes or vacation houses. We do not currently offer any apartments or rooms.

Do You Have Properties in Split / Brač / Dubrovnik / Korčula?

We are Hvar island aficionados, and only offer villas on Hvar at this time.

Do You Offer Discounts for Groups?

We do not have a standard offer for groups, but please get in touch with us and we can work with you to find a set of properties and a package that meets your goals.

Can I Rent in the Off-Season?

Availability varies from property to property, as do cold weather amenities. We love the off-season on Hvar and would be happy to help you find a great rental for your needs. Just get in touch.

About My Booking

I Didn’t Receive a Confirmation Email

Please check your spam folder. If a written confirmation of your booking is not there, contact us as soon as possible so that we can ensure your payment went through correctly. If your stay is more than 60 days away, after you pay your booking deposit, your dates are immediately reserved and you should receive a booking confirmation right away. If your stay is less than 60 days away, after you pay your booking deposit, we will send you a payment link to fulfil the total balance of your booking. Once this is received, you should receive your booking confirmation right away.

My Reservation Details Are Incorrect

Please contact us right away. If you do not notify us of any issues or simply do not check your written booking confirmation, we may be unable to help you as the season books up.

Can I Cancel My Reservation?

Yes. As always, earlier is better. With sufficient notice you may cancel your reservation for a full or partial refund. Cancellations made 60 days or more before your check-in date are entitled to a full refund of the total payment, minus any payment processing fees.

If you cancel between 59 and 30 days before your check-in, you are entitled to a 50% refund of total payment, less any payment processing fees.

Within 30 days of your check-in date, reservations are totally non-refundable.

In cases of “force majeure” in which it is not possible for Hvar Away to safely or legally provide promised accommodations, guests are entitled to full refund. For example, were borders to again close completely due to a pandemic, all guests would be refunded. However, if a particular guest fell ill, he or she would not be eligible for a refund.

We understand that vacation plans can fall apart, sometimes due to very difficult circumstances. However, given the brevity and intensity of Hvar’s summer season, we unfortunately cannot offer any exceptions to this policy.

Can I Transfer My Reservation?

Absolutely. Simply write to us with full details of your substitute, and Hvar Away will provide written confirmation of the switch. Please be sure to include:

the full name of the guest who will be responsible for the booking, his or her email and phone number, the new total number of guests, the number of adults and number of children, any special requests or other notes

The new guest automatically agrees to accept Hvar Away’s terms and conditions as well as the rules of the particular property in question. He or she will receive all further communications from Hvar Away regarding the booking, and will be responsible for making any outstanding payments on schedule.

Can I Change My Dates?

Whenever possible, Hvar Away will work with you to amend the dates of your reservation. Just contact us. If pre-existing reservations and minimum stay requirements make it impossible to find another set of dates that suits you and your party, you can transfer your reservation to someone else or, with advance notice, cancel.

Can I Add/Remove Guests from My Booking??

Yes, just send us an email with your new total party size. Of course, the number of guests cannot exceed the capacity of the property. This maximum includes babies, kids, and last-minute drop-ins. Property capacities are set by law, so we enforce them quite strictly. Please don’t test the rules and ruin your holiday!

The sooner that you can notify us about your ideas and questions, the better we can help you. We work with the very best service providers on the island, and their availability dwindles as the season approaches.

Want us to stock your villa with groceries before you arrive? Just send us the shopping list. Or if you've booked one of our more remote villas, save time on long drives to the supermarket with our food and beverage delivery service.

Can You Arrange a Transfer?

Hvar Away can organise whatever you need to get you from A to B. Need to rent a car or organise a minivan taxi? No problem. Prefer two wheels? Let us know and we'll arrange bicycle, ebike, or scooter rentals for you.

Do you want to forgo the ferry and arrive on Hvar in style without wasting any time? Contact us to arrange a speedboat transfer from the mainland.

And you can't come to Hvar without experiencing a boat trip. Ask us about boat rental options or skippered day trips to explore your stunning surroundings.

I Need Early Check-In / Late Check-Out

Travel schedules can be challenging on a number of levels. If you need or would prefer an altered check-in/check-out time, please let us know as soon as possible. Due to the intensity of the season, we unfortunately cannot guarantee our ability to fulfil such requests, but we will do everything we can to accommodate you. Special check-in/check-out times may incur an additional fee. If that is the case, we will notify you, and you will have the opportunity to accept the charge and move forward, or refuse it and stick with your original schedule.

If you are unsure of your check-in/check-out times, please refer to your written booking confirmation, which you received immediately after reservation.

Can I Bring My Pet?

How we love our furry pals! When browsing our villas, keep a look out for “Pet Friendly Properties”. This is a selection of homes specially suited to animals. Before you book, please contact us with the details of your pet or pets. We will confirm that the property in question can accommodate them, and review any additional conditions and charges.

Please don’t try to smuggle Mr. Snuggles! That would constitute a breach of contract and result in a very bad experience for you and your four-legged companion.

If you are having trouble finding a villa that suits you, please just get in touch and tell us about your beloved companion. We can suggest some properties that would be a good fit.


The XYZ Doesn’t Work

Washing machine won’t start? Oven on the fritz? Shower problems? Please call the number provided in your booking confirmation email. We will follow up with you immediately. Hvar Away has a 24/7 repair team to deal with faulty equipment.

Will the Property Look Like the Listing?

Hvar Away personally chooses and inspects all of our properties to guarantee that they meet our standards and that the descriptions and photos displayed on this booking site are accurate.

I’m Not Happy

Your satisfaction is our first priority at Hvar Away. If you have any concerns whatsoever with your rental, such as insufficient cleaning, damage, or other irregularities, please bring it to our attention as soon as possible by phone or email. We will immediately work to resolve the issue.

Oops! I Broke Something

Spilled a glass of wine on the sofa? Dropped a plate? Knocked over a lamp? It happens to the best of us. Please notify us by phone or email as soon as you are able. We will send someone over if needed or advise you as to what it will cost to repair or replace the damaged item.

Because accidents are part of life, all guests are required to provide a Damages Deposit at least 48 hours before check-in, which will be used to cover the costs of any such damage. If damages exceed the value of the deposit, you will be expected to cover the difference.

Almost all of our guests receive a full refund of their damage deposit, however each property undergoes a thorough inspection within 24 hours of a guest’s departure so we can ensure that everything is in place for future visitors. If something is missing or not as it should be, we will notice! So please just keep us in the loop. Intentional property damage or removal of items from the property is another matter and will result in an unpleasant series of repercussions outlined in your rental agreement.

Can I Host a Party?

Probably not. Each Hvar Away villa has its own house rules, which are listed on its webpage and repeated in the confirmation email that you will receive when you book. These rules often include prohibitions on parties, because time and experience have shown that large social gatherings very frequently result in damage.

If you have any questions or concerns about the rules for your rental, just reach out. We can provide clarity or find a property better suited to your needs. And if you know that you want to host a celebration or have other plans that might not work for all property rentals, please get in touch. We can discuss what is possible and try to help you find the perfect villa for your goals.

About Payment

Can I Pay in Cash?

It is not possible for guests to make any reservation payments upon arrival, i.e. by cash or card. For your security and ours, we only accept payment through our online payment platform powered by Stripe, or through bank transfer in exceptional circumstances. All reservation payments are processed in euros. Stripe’s permitted payment methods are: debit/credit cards (including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners, Discover), and wallets (including Apple Pay and Google Pay).

If you love to pay for things in cash, however, you will not lack for opportunity on Hvar, as many restaurants and other businesses still operate exclusively or preferentially on a cash basis.

Will There Be Any Additional Fees?

Your upfront booking price includes all accommodation costs. This includes utilities, wifi, linens, basic cooking tools, bathroom cosmetics, and any maintenance of the villa and swimming pool (as applicable) while you are with us. Your total price also includes application of Croatian VAT and tourist tax, and sometimes a fixed cleaning and laundry fee depending on the villa.

If you choose to purchase add-ons, like an airport transfer or pet services, Hvar Away will present you with the price of those services and provide you the opportunity to accept or decline them. If you happen to damage the villa in some way, that will also incur a fee. You are responsible for covering the cost of damages, but we will discuss those charges with you transparently.

There will be no surprise fees or unexpected charges.
